Spain in the European Union

It’s been 30 years since Spain joined the EU and we want to commemorate it by recalling everything we’ve achieved as a country.

Spain joined the UE in 1986. Since then, Spain has been aided with 118.000 million euros in community services. Thanks to that, Spain has been able to build new infrastructures, regenerate public services and state an stable democratic system. The economical increase has been spectacular. Spain is an example of well being and prosperity all around the world.

The 12th of June of 1985, Spain and Portugal signed a treaty in Madrid and Lisbon, respectively. Spain’s treaty was signed in the Royal Palace, where the King Juan Carlos I gave a speech. The process started the 26th of July 1977. The negotiations were opened in 1985, when Spain officially joined the EU.
